Plans have been made with the U.S. Coast Guard facility in Galveston for June 25 at 10 a.m. for a tour of the dock facilities, small patrol boats and a cutter. Coast Guard staff will conduct the tour and be available for questions and explanations. A few days before the event we will give them a list of our attendees so they can grant you security clearance to park on site, then we get details of parking areas which will be emailed to you.

SHS will then be hosting a few of the Coast Guard to join the group for lunch afterward at Olympia Restaurant, near the ship docks and the Elissa. They plan to speak to our group about "The State of the Gulf."

The Greek lunch buffet at Olympia (you'll like the choices) will be $30/pp and covers your lunch, coffee/tea/dessert. Bar tabs will be handled individually at the restaurant. SHS has a private room for the event. We are asking everyone to make your reservations through Lakewood by phone or email.

Mike and Marisa have put a lot of thought into the planning and the event has all the markings of being very interesting and informative. It's a unique opportunity to learn more about the duties and experiences of the U.S. Coast Guard and what they're doing to protect people and the environment.

For questions, email or call Mike Dehart (mikedeh@msn.com). Please make your reservations with the LYC office, 281-474-2511.
